vision for MAJ: a network / orchestra of musicians & performers … no single highlighted act, many talented people collaborating and switching for the sake of each song. it’s hard to fully articulate, but I chose this picture b/c it shows the importance of each musician, yet gives room for anonymity.
Thought this was neat. Neon lights in the dark always gets my attention … I think I was a bug in a previous life.
Musho is an ass. But I want to see this movie. Go to the movie website and learn about the korean drinking culture (www.daytimedrinking.com)
Dyrdek, already a skater icon and from hit shows “Rob & Big” and “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory,” has become the biggest thing on mtv since Jackass & the Real World. Now, he’s recently opened up a new skating plaza in LA, with the support of the City of Los Angeles. Quite the entreprenuer, yet the giver as well. These are the pictures that my friend Jeremy took while MAJ (Tim & I) were jamming out at the Red Line Tap. I must admit, this night was a bit nuts … but like all of our other open mics, we learned a lot. Anyway, thanks Jeremy for the pictures.
MAJ playing “2 String Breakdown” —-> OH MAN WE’VE GOT A NEW VERSION OF THIS SONG … IT’LL MELT YOU AWAY!!

Musho Man … aka OSHUM
crazy pictures that I just dug.

… Jeremy’s artistic pics …

During this time we were hitting “Summer Daze” … a wonderful song that it’s in the works lyrically.
… the morning after … Jeremy is an ass.
This is a book that someone from my church (Roberto Garcia) released and is being sold at amazon. It took him 2 years to write this book and it’s just great to see how Robert’s passion drove him to really take on this book. He’s got 2 more books in the process. I haven’t read it myself, but I do find this encouraging and motivating for my own work.
If you’re interested in reading his book, here’s a link.
Cool … badass skateboard deck designs
This is old … but this is how I imagine ever doing a concert.
Last night was the first of MAJ’s February Open Mic Month. MAJ is an acoustic soul band consisting of Tim Musho & myself (Dan In).
This being our first open public performance, the experience couldn’t have been any better. The whole day Musho & I were a nervous wreck about the gig. Luckily we had friends there to push us (J & Emily) to the Tonic Room for their Monday Open Mics.
Here’s our set we did:
- 2 String Breakdown
- Summer Daze
- Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You (MAJ remix)
What I realized about MAJ is that were great at easing the audience into the performance. We weren’t like most of the performers there, who were up in people’s face & started with talking introductions & stories. Rather, we just let our music do the talking. We started with 2 String Breakdown b/c it’s a pure instrumental … there was no need for a story. Unplanned, the lights were dim when we started & the host, feeling our vibe (chill & soulful), knew when to raise the lights up to show the audience who we were.
By the time we got to Summer Daze, we had everyone’s attention. People, to my surprise, weren’t talking … just listening … which really surprised me b/c I didn’t know our music was that charasmatic. We wrapped it up with our own jazzy/acoustic cover of Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You & really tore up the jam part.
Perhaps this was just first time luck … I don’t know. But I got to talk to some really great musicians and heard some very chill music. More importantly … MAJ played!

I was surfing the web for some cool desktop bg’s … stumbled onto these bg’s & thought they were worth sharing.
